"Had a great stay. A very unique idea and the rooms are finished beautifully. You could spend hours in
the gift shop. We got some great souveniers and even did some Christmas shopping. Had breakfast in the
Train Station Restaurant and loved it. Great homemade jam. Thanks for everything and we'll be back.

Frommer's Review (link)

"This is one of the most unique lodgings in the province . . . or in Canada, for that matter. You won't find
Jacuzzis here, but you will get a souvenir-worthy digital photo of your digs at least. Located down a side
street in and around a weedy rail yard, the Train Station offers three rooms in, yes, a lovely century-old
brick train station -- but also seven rooms in a set of Canadian National cabooses and train cars that have
been refurbished as rather simple guest rooms. I am not kidding. The station rooms are like your
grandmother's spare bedroom, and they lack TVs and air-conditioning; the cabooses vary in comfort and
character but are generally more plush, relatively speaking. All have been nicely done over, though, in
various styles and decor -- some decorated in regal Edwardian parlor motifs with bead-board paneling
and striped wallpaper, other (later-model) cars outfitted with hardwood floors, gas woodstoves,
kitchenettes, king beds, and small private elevated sitting areas with plastic patio chairs for lounging.
Rates include a continental breakfast served in the men's waiting room, which is lined with lanterns and
other railway memorabilia and doubles as a cafe. The reception and gift shop is located in the ladies'
waiting room; pick up an engineer's cap if you like. Amazingly, there is even a dining car, with lunches
and dinners of salmon, steak, lobster, and the like served daily. The fleet is still growing, too: In
December 2006, a new addition -- a 1905 Vice Regal car -- arrived on the scene.

“Most Unique Place I've ever stayed at!”

"We stayed at the Train Station Inn for one night and wished we could have stayed there longer. The
rooms are in refurbished cabooses or box cars, complete with a private bathroom and living room area.
Everything you could possibly need was there, including a mini-fridge, coffee-maker and blow dryer. We
ate dinner in the dining car and the food was excellent! A continental breakfast is included, which is more
than adequate, but we paid a bit extra for Acadian French toast and blueberry pancakes which were
superb. The Train Station Inn has the most unique and fun gift shop I've ever seen - toys for every age.
The owner, James, appeared at breakfast wearing his full conductor's outfit and was all too willing to
answer questions about the history of this place. It's within walking distance to a great selection of shops
and services. We had the best nights' sleep ever, because it was so quiet there and the bed was so
comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, whether they're train buffs or not!

“On the cutting edge of clever.”

"My wife and I were passing through Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia and we were looking in the Nova Scotia
Doer's and Dreamers 2007 guide and we saw the Train station Inn listed. We almost skipped it thinking it
was not worth the stop and we were going to keep on driving. But we changed our mind and did a u-
turn and checked it out. I am 49 and my wife is 52 and we were both like little kids. The hotel rooms are
In the station house as well as train cars outside. The upstairs rooms also have a common area complete
with a kitchen. We looked at the two available train cars, both the caboose and the boxcar. We chose the
boxcar. It was a decent sized room with a queen size bed and a loft with a twin bed. We had our own
bathroom, a coffee pot and fridge. We also had our own sitting area outside the room but still in the
boxcar. Kind of like a balcony.
The Dinning car was two cars down and the food was excellent. I love to see old things used well in a
clever modern way and this is one of the best ideas out there.
As a qualifier, I am an airline pilot and I stay in hotels three nights out of every seven and I tell you this
place was really neat.

“Nostalgic dining experience, A++++++”

"I was not in the mood to eat out the night we booked a meal with relatives in the Dining Car at The Train
Station Inn in Tatamagouche. It was a terribly hot day last August and I was 6 months pregnant and felt
as big as a house. On top of all that, I wasn't feeling well and wasn't really hungry.

We had the best time and a wonderful meal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered a chicken pasta dish.... and I never order pasta in a restaurant since I like to make pasta dishes
at home. Restaurant pasta never seems to live up to homemade. It never comes to the table when it is
fresh and hot. Well, it was fresh, hot, flavourful.... an excellent meal when I wasn't expecting one.

All three of my dining companions had great meals and appetizers.

Only raves, no complaints.

And what a unique dining environment.... comfortable nostalgia abounds at this unique restaurant.

"Very nice location and a very interesting place to stay. Stayed for a night in August 2008 and had a
waggon with two beds and a small kitchen. So we were "on our own" for a night and enjoyed this place
very much. The place to go ;-) The only thing we did not like were the mosquitoes (many of them ;-)

"1) My husband and I were cycling through and our dog rolled
in something awful. The Inn staff gave us soap, rags, and
water to wash her down.
2) We needed a place to pitch our tent and they let us use
their property.
3) BEST French toast ever the next morning
4) It was horrible out (hailing) and we decided to book into a
motel vs. pitching tent. Jimmy the owner helped us out, gave
us a great deal, great room, and awesome breakfast.

THANKS Train Station! You guys were awesome!"
